In 2008 his Nursing Facility Administrator background began as he ran a large local nursing home as well as helped oversee other homes within the same chain. A challenge that allowed him to gain invaluable experience elevating nursing home performance, new project develop, and census growth. This eventually led him into a new role as co-founder and president of Hometown Healthcare Management (HHM) in 2015. Under HHM Kaley and his partner acquired three different nursing homes, and have ownership and management of a couple home health agencies and hospice groups. Additionally, he is also the co-owner and operator of a pharmacy that participates in retail sales as well as healthcare applications, including his own.

Born in Columbia, Mississippi, grew up in Albany, Louisiana where he currently lives with his family. Kevin has been married to his wife Jeanine Smith, also a nurse, for 23 years. They have three children, Dawson, Mackenzie, and Mason. Kevin’s love for health care came at the age of 15 when he began helping to take care of his Grandfather. He knew then that he had a compassion for the elderly population and wanted to pursue that as a career. He started as an LPN in 1994 working in long term care. He then went on to graduate from RN school at Southwest Mississippi Community College in 1999. Kevin has over 20 years experience as a nurse. Ten of those years where in the emergency room and the rest have been in long term care.
Over the years Kevin has worked for some of the largest long term care corporations in the state. In 2018, Kaley Hill, owner of The Lodge, hired Kevin as the Director of Nursing for Tangi Pines Nursing Center. Hill commented at the time of hire, “His past service and experience in long term care made our decision to name him as DON an easy and correct one.” Kevin is proud to be a part of this nursing home and wants it to be a place that the Amite community can be proud of and want to bring their loved ones to. Smith says that, “My compassion and love is to take care of people who cannot take care of their selves. Our goal is to create a home like setting where our residents come first and are happy.”
